Kids Invitation for Their Own Party

Before you veto the idea of letting your child plan his or her own party, remember that this could be a great learning experience for him or her. Party planning is a challenge, as you already know, but it does require organization, budgeting and other skills that are important for your son or daughter to have and to practice regularly. Putting them in charge of the celebration is one of the best ways to encourage them to use and develop those skills.

Of course, letting your children handle all the children cards on their own shouldn't be done with very young children. But if your son or daughter is over the age of 7 or 8 and has some basic understanding of planning then they should be able to do a great job with some assistance from you.

Basics for the Personalized Kids Invitations

First, you and your child should sit down and plan the guest list. Don't make decisions for your child about who should attend but consider setting a limit on how many guests can be invited. You should keep the guest list relatively small - no more than 5 to 10. If there are some children or adults you absolutely do not want at the party for personal reasons, make sure to explain this to your child upfront. Setting boundaries and guidelines for your child will be good as he or she starts thinking about these kid invitations .

Next, work with your child to create a budget for the party. Have your child write up a list, for example, of the refreshments to be served. Chances are that list will be pretty extravagant at first. That's when you say your child has only a set amount of money to spend on food and explain how much each of the items will cost. Require your child to make the big decisions about what will stay on the list. Follow this same pattern for all of the major decisions, including decorations and the child invitations themselves.

You can also allow your child to make other party-related decisions regarding location, entertainment and date if you feel comfortable handing over that much responsibility. Of course, don't forget to also have your child prepare the youth cards for the mail. Depending on his or her age, your child may need assistance from you but make sure they have to do the majority of the work.

Children Invitations & Future Parties

The purpose for giving your child responsibility for his or her own party planning is twofold. For one, he or she is going to do something fun while also learning some important lessons and skills in the process. Plus, the next time he or she wants to start sending out custom kids invitations, they might think twice about all of the work required in party planning.
